This is major update of the script, so it may not be as stable as before.

  • Region render was not set properly during the rendering.
  • Crash when vray ir/lcache maps are set to auto-save.
  • "projectname" keyword added which resolves to project's folder name.
  • I didn't have a chance to check it on a clean machine. Probably it requires Deadline 3ds max Submitter installed. Other checkbox doesn't matter in this case ("Net render", "Show Submit Dialog"). Enter deadline repository address and check " Use Deadline" checkbox. Very basic imlementation, it allows you to submit your jobs on a deadline server.
  • Limited support for camera objects in xref scene files (Only root objects in first level xrefs.
  • Don't Save Render Elements Checkbox (Thanks to antomor).
  • CoronaSun supported inside Daylight System.
  • Corona and Vray Sun inside Daylight System fixed (thanks to busseynova for reporting).
  • Additional functionality is Lighting Assignment - you can specify which light will be turn on or off for selected camera during the rendering. Using it you can specify rendering parameters - frame size, frame number, output path - directly to camera object, so every camera in scene 'knows' what it intended to render. Loading it into other versions of IRay (that I was testing) the shader needed to be set to PBR-Metallic/Roughness.This script aims to replace standard 3dsmax's Batch Render and imitates Houdini Output Node workflow. Note: To load the MDL into 3ds Max 2016 with MentalRay/IRay, the shader in Substance Designer needs to be set to blinn. I was successfully able to load the MDL into other versions of IRay, and got a 1:1 result when rendered! Not sure which side the issue is, but I'm leaning towards: I need to do something on the 3ds Max side. The MDL loads into the material editor, but none of the bitmaps are referenced. The only other issue I have run into is loading the MDL into 3ds Max 2016 with MentalRay/IRay.
  • Concrete_Floor_Polished_001.mdl will save.
  • Concrete-Floor-Polished-001.mdl will not save.
  • If you replace the " - " character with a " _ " character, it will save it. If the name of the MDL Preset contains a " - " character, it will not save the MDL. I did learn something to note when saving the MDL. And I can save the MDL to the location, and have had some success with this in 3ds Max 2016.

    When I click the "." I can specify a location with the Windows dialog, which I could not do before. So in Substance Designer 5.3.1 the issue with saving MDLs has been resolved on my end.
